Maybelline ColorELIXIR by Colorsensational lipgloss in Blush Elegance
I decided to pop to Boots today after work, as I had ran out of foundation and found that it was 3 for 2 on Maybelline, and this new lip gloss caught my eye. I definitely don't need any new lip gloss, as I have a stash of them, however as it was 3 for 2 I thought it would be a good time to purchase and review. So, on to the basics...
I usually choose lip gloss over lipstick, because I prefer my lips to feel moisturised and soft, as I suffer from dry, chapped lips. This is a new line from Maybelline, and as regular readers will know, I can't hide my love for all things Maybelline! It is just about my favourite cosmetic brand. I chose the colour 705 blush elegance because it is a soft creamy pink with a slight hint of peach and blue undertones. I was hoping for slightly more pigment to the colour and I think the tube is quite deceiving, as it gives the impression that this is a pigmented gloss. The result is that it is very glossy with uneven coverage, that said, I am a fan of this product. I find that it has decent staying power and stays put even after drinking and eating. This usually plays a major factor in how often I wear a gloss, as I want it to last preferably all day, but certainly for at least a couple of hours. I have taken some close ups of me wearing it, so you can really see the colour. It reminds me of my MUA lip gloss which is basically the same colour but a lot more pigmented (and only £3!)
Upon application, it feels very glossy on my lips. My lips feel well moisturised and despite this not being marketed as a balm, it certainly feels like a two in one balm and gloss. However, it does leave my lips feeling too glossy and also slightly greasy. I can definitely tell I am wearing it. I like makeup to feel light so that I forget I'm wearing it but what caught my eye with this product, is the packaging. The lipgloss is designed to look like a lipstick in a tube, I have taken a photo so you can see. It's a nice little touch and makes the product look very modern and elegant.
This is by Maybelline's Color sensational range, which I really love and I hope to see a lot more from this range in the near future. I'm also hoping to see more products by Maybelline finally make their way over to this side of the shore soon, as opposed to just being available in America. Overall I like this product, though it's not my favourite lipgloss by Maybelline, it's nice to wear if I want colour and a balm, the colour is also quite subtle so it will work with most looks. At £6.99 it's not the cheapest lipgloss, but I was so attracted to the design and the colour plus it's made by my favourite range so I couldn't resist!
