Rimmel Provocalips

Today I would like to review the new Rimmel Provocalips, launched a few weeks ago and currently part of an offer at Boots I decided to give this a whirl! Here is a description of the product:
Kiss proof, transfer proof, food proof high impact endless colour.
No tight feeling or dry lips. Lips feel smooth and moisturized all day long.
Easy removal with Oil based makeup remover
STEP 1: Apply colour and keep lips apart for 60 seconds until the product sets.
STEP 2: Apply topcoat to lock the colour, moisture and add shine.

Firstly I love the packaging of this product, it immediately caught my eye, it's quite girly but I like it. The main reason I bought this, however is because I was fed up of buying long lasting lip glosses which always made my lips feel dry and tight. I would find that after a few hours, it would begin to flake off leaving my lips dry and colourless and I had heard that this kiss proof gloss would keep my lips moisturised all day with no tight feeling. It's a two step process in which you apply the colour first then the balm which seals in the colour. I was unimpressed with the limited choice of colours, as I don't really like wearing bright colours on my lips, preferring more neutral shades, I found it very difficult to find a colour I could adapt into my daily make-up routine. This is me wearing the gloss:

I purchased the colour Wake Me Up which I would describe as peach/apricot with a hint of pink. It is pigmented and the colours are quite intense when applied. Whilst I was pleased with the colour, despite not being able to find a neutral gloss amongst this collection, I found that I still had the same issue as I have had with all the other long lasting glosses I have tried. The balm certainly seals the colour in so that it does not transfer on to skin or cups but I still found that after a few hours my lips felt slightly dry, I did not notice a tight feeling but the colour flaked off. My lips don't feel as dry as they usually do using a long lasting gloss but to me, it feels like they still have not got the formula right.

I have read reviews where people claim the gloss lasts all day but I found mine only lasted around 6 hours before I needed to reapply. It certainly lasts longer than a conventional gloss but if it is marketed as lasting 16 hours then I should not have to top it up every 5 hours or so, it defeats the whole object. Unfortunately I was underwhelmed by this product, I would say it is the best long lasting gloss on the market but that's not difficult when the market can't seem to get long lasting glosses right! I purchased this for £6.99 in Boots where it is currently part of an offer on Rimmel products.
