Maybelline Lash Sensational

Today I am excited to review the new Maybelline Lash Sensational, which has been out in the states for a while now but which has just been released here in the UK. I was one of the first to review it so what did I think?

So first things first, I love the packaging, it's just so soft and feminine. I love the name and everything about this! The first thing I noticed was the brush, which has two sides, it has a comb on one side to catch the short lashes and a brush on the other side to lengthen and create volume. It creates a multi lash effect meaning it looks as though you have layers and layers of lashes. What does the product description say?
The Brush:
Our 1st Layer-Reveal Brush captures even the tiniest lashes and volumises the look of longer lashes for a layered, multiplied lash look.
The Formula:
New liquid formula, with a low wax count created the blackest of black lashes that are so dark and defined.
The Result:
A sensational layered, multiplied look.
Our consumers agree!
90% agree: Reveals layers and layers of lashes
90% agree: Gives a multiplied lash look

I had seen many reviews about this before it's release, and I thought how can it possibly be that good? But believe me it really is! As soon as I used this mascara, I was in love and I'm very hard to please when it comes to mascara. I like something that creates the effect of false eye lashes, but that doesn't clump or flake. I love volume and length when it comes to lashes (who doesn't?) and trying to achieve the two together is often impossible without looking like I have spider legs for eyelashes!
However I was not disappointed with this, if I had one complaint it would be that the formula is quite wet and so it can smudge under my eyes when I'm applying or if I blink back it can catch my eyeshadow. I find that there is a technique with applying this. I find that it's easier to use the small brush first, this is also good for lower lashes then I use the other side to lengthen, it also helps to apply around three coats, starting at the lash roots and allowing them to dry in between. The end result, is that I look as though I have false eye lashes on and it creates a massive curl so I think a better name for this product would be Maybelline CURL Sensation. I hate wearing false eye lashes, so this is why I like a mascara that gives this effect.
I had many people complimenting and noticing this mascara, so I will most definitely be repurchasing. I would say this is my new favourite and there was no clumping whatsoever. It managed to create a curl in my lashes that lasted all day and it stayed in place, no flaking, I've taken a few photos so you can see the length and curl it created. These were taken when I had been wearing it for around 6 hours...

After 6 hours wear and 3 coats
No falsies, honest!
I much prefer this to the Benefit They're Real mascara which I find leaves my eyelashes clumpy and spidery (is that even a word? Who cares!) and as you can see from the above images, it really does create length and curl. It really helps to open my eyes up and compliments my eye make-up, I also find that I can apply many coats of this and it won't clump or flake and it lasts all day. You can get this for the introductory price of £5.99 at Boots, the usual price will be £7.99.
