So I have been promising a review all week but as I've been busy visiting the beautiful Lake District I simply didn't find the time between climbing hills. So here it finally is, and today I'm going to be reviewing the Rimmel Lasting Finish 25H Foundation in shade 200 Soft Beige and the Lasting Finish primer...

So what did I think?
Well it certainly makes some bold claims, and I've never had much luck with Rimmel foundations in the past, as I suffer with an oily t-zone and I find that their foundations tend to just sit on my skin instead of blending in. That being said, I was pleasantly surprised by this. This foundation comes in two different types, you can get a light coverage and the full coverage. In the past, I have tried the light coverage version and I did not like it, it sat on my skin and didn't blend at all and it slipped off after a couple of hours. So I decided to try the full coverage, I have clear skin at the moment but not clear enough to get away with a light coverage, so I need something that gives medium to full cover but without being heavy and allowing my skin to breathe. Initially I had a sample from a magazine of both the primer and the foundation in the shade ivory, which was very pale, but I liked the formula so much that I decided to buy it. I found that they didn't really have a vast range of colours to choose from but my shade 200 Soft Beige is a perfect match. A word of warning though - if you have pale skin go for the next shade up from ivory as it is extremely pale. I find that this blends in to my skin very easily so that it looks very natural.

I found that it lasted all day without any touch ups, however if I had an active day I found that I did have to add some powder towards the end of the day. I must admit, I do use some Maybelline Matt Maker setting powder to stop the foundation making my skin oily and I also use the primer before application to give something for the foundation to cling to. I then use my Real Techniques Miracle Complexion sponge to apply and finish with a bit of powder.
The product claims to be heat, sweat, humidity and transfer proof for 25 hours. I found that it did not transfer throughout the day and I put it to the test in the Lake District while I was walking up hills (where better to test it out) and I found that by the end of my climb, my foundation was still in place. When I went out for an evening meal I just had to touch it up slightly with some powder, as it does tend to be slightly shiny towards the end of the day. The foundation has a comfort serum built in and I find that whilst it does seem heavy upon application, it is comfortable to wear and feels like a second skin. It blends in easily and gives full coverage and a flawless matte finish. I find that I don't need to use concealer however it does not dry smooth on the skin, it feels quite tacky but I don't notice that I'm wearing it throughout the day and it is difficult to remove at night as it really seems to sink in to my pores. But despite it's few flaws, this ticks all the right boxes. I find that the primer doesn't really bring much to the product, it claims to add 8 hours to the longevity of the foundation but I don't think it made much difference. It feels and looks more like a moisturiser than a primer.
Regardless, I will definitely be repurchasing this product. It is my new favourite and has even taken over from my beloved Maybelline Better Skin foundation. I have heard other reviewers say that it can cause breakouts, so far I have only noticed a couple of spots on my chin but that could just be a coincidence. For a budget brand, this is a foundation to match the high end brands and I'm very impressed. I will definitely be recommending this to everyone! You can purchase this from Boots where it is currently on offer, the foundation is £4.99 and the primer is £3. Excellent value for money!
